Free bets, start to finish
A free bet is a stake the bookmaker funds on your behalf. You place it from your bet slip like any other selection, but you are not risking your own money — and if it wins, the profit is paid as ordinary withdrawable cash. The catch, and the reason this cluster of guides exists, is that the value of an offer is decided almost entirely by its terms rather than its headline number.
Three rules cover most of it. First, nearly every UK free bet is stake not returned, so a £10 token at odds of 3.0 pays £20, not £30. Second, most offers need a qualifying bet — usually £10 at minimum odds of 1.5 — placed with a debit card rather than an e-wallet. Third, tokens expire, typically after seven days.

Comparing offers by tier
Once you understand the mechanics, the quickest way to shop is by tier. Our Bet £10 Get £30, Bet £10 Get £40 and Bet £10 Get £50 pages line up every bookmaker at the same qualifying stake so the only variables left are token split, minimum odds and expiry. If you would rather not deposit at all, start with no deposit free bets.
Free bet FAQs
What is the best free bet offer in the UK?
The best offer is the one with the lowest qualifying stake, the lowest minimum odds and the longest expiry — not simply the biggest headline number. A Bet £10 Get £30 offer split into three £10 tokens at 1.5 minimum odds is usually worth more in practice than a £50 offer that demands 2.0 odds and expires in seven days.
How many free bet offers can I claim?
One welcome offer per bookmaker, per person, address, device and payment method. There is no limit on how many different bookmakers you sign up with, which is why most bettors work through a shortlist one operator at a time.
Do free bets expire?
Yes. Most UK free bet tokens expire seven days after they are credited, though some run to 30 days. Expiry is applied automatically and expired tokens cannot be reinstated, so claim an offer only when you know you will use it.
Are free bet winnings taxed in the UK?
No. Gambling winnings, including profit from free bets, are not taxable for UK residents. The bookmaker pays duty, not the customer.
Are these offers safe to claim?
Every bookmaker we list holds a UK Gambling Commission licence, which means segregated customer funds, mandatory ID verification, deposit limits and self-exclusion tools. We do not list unlicensed operators.
