Free Bets vs Risk-Free Bets

By Clive SmallsLast updated: August 2026

A free bet is credited after a qualifying bet whether it wins or loses. A risk-free bet only refunds you if your first bet loses — and that refund is usually another token, not cash.

Which should you claim?

If you bet small, take the guaranteed free bet — you bank value immediately. If you were going to place a large bet anyway, a risk-free offer can cover more of your stake, but remember the refund is capped and normally arrives as an SNR token with its own expiry.

FAQs

What is the difference between a free bet and a risk-free bet?

A free bet is a token credited up front after a qualifying bet, win or lose. A risk-free bet refunds your first bet only if it loses, and the refund normally arrives as a free bet token rather than cash.

Which is better value?

A guaranteed free bet is usually better because you receive it whether the qualifying bet wins or loses. A risk-free bet only pays out on a loss, so its expected value depends on the odds you take.

Is a risk-free bet really risk free?

Not entirely. The refund is normally a stake-not-returned token with its own minimum odds and expiry, so you recover the value only if the replacement bet also wins.
